The Golden State Warriors couldn’t keep up with the Los Angeles Clippers at the Intuit Dome. A sixth loss in their last seven games adds to the burden for Steve Kerr who is desperately trying to up the benchmark for the Bay. Tonight, there was a glaring lack of scoring. Not a single starter aside from Trayce Jackson-Davis scored in double digits. Clearly, the lack of their celebrated tandem of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green was felt.

Both of the franchise veterans were on the sidelines due to injury management. Curry is suffering from bilateral knee tendinitis while Green sat out due to a back injury. However, it’s evidently clear that in such woeful times, they are needed. And hence, Steve Kerr made it official as the team prepares to play the Phoenix Suns on a back-to-back night.

The renowned head coach announced both Stephen Curry and Draymond Green are “expected to return” tomorrow in his press conference after the Clippers loss.

Even though at the twlights of their career, the celebrated tandem continues to lead the Warriors during this difficult time. With the Chef and Green on the floor, the franchise averages it’s highest and second-highest points respectively. A lot of it comes from the chemistry they share, bringing organization to the Warriors’ system.

Steve Kerr remains confident despite horror run

The Golden State Warriors lacked any sort of ferocity for three quarters in tonight’s loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. None of the starting five had logged even 10 points till then. The only exception was a free to roam Jonathan Kuminga. His efforts single handedly made the game intriguing with the Bay cutting the deficit to just three points at one point.

It did manage to inspire the group. However, it ended up being in vain as the Clippers pulled through to win their third game against the Warriors this season. Still, Kerr isn’t rattled by the recent run of results. Rather, he feels there is a fix to the problem and it’s one that the Warriors have preached for years.

What’s your perspective on:

Can the Warriors survive without Curry and Green, or is their return the only hope?

It’s through collaboration.

“We’ve got to gain some confidence shooting the ball and find multiple guys in one game who get it going. That’s the way to win in this league. You can’t just rely on one guy. Tonight JK was that guy. He was brilliant… We’ve got to get multiple and that comes with confidence,” said the nine-time champion.

That’s exactly how the Warriors won twelve of their first 15 games when Stephen Curry barely averaged over 30 minutes per game. Getting multiple threats is what allows the Warriors to open up the floor. A slasher like Kuminga paves the way to create such openings, but shooting 7-38 from three isn’t going to contribute to results.

The Golden State Warriors need to live up to their identity. And with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green both returning tomorrow, both sides of the floor will receive a much needed boost.
