The first Grand Slam of the new year, the Australian Open, will be held after a slight delay as compared to previous editions. After a number of meetings amongst various authorities, the officials have finally given the green signal for its commencement. The main draw of the first major will be held from the 8th of February till the 21st of the month.

Like previous years, some ATP 250 tournaments will precede the year’s first major. However, this season, the courts of Melbourne Park will host all the events.

Usually, these events are held in Adelaide and Brisbane, respectively. This time, however, even the ATP Cup has shifted to Melbourne. Last year, during its inaugural edition, the event took place in Brisbane, Perth, and Sydney.

The Rod Laver Arena and the Margaret Court will host the ATP Cup. Along with the Australian Open, a WTA 250 tournament will be played from the 13th-19th of February.

The qualifying round of the men’s category is being held in Doha, whereas the women’s event is happening in Dubai. This season can witness changes across many events during the calendar as the effects of the coronavirus pandemic still loom large.

The necessary protocols are being carried out to ensure the safety of all individuals and not just players. Ensuring smooth functioning of these events is a top priority for organizers as fans are eagerly waiting to see their favorite players in action.
