In the first Youth ODI played between Australia U-19 and England U-19, the Australians tasted a comfortable win over the English side by eight wickets. Having won the toss, the England captain Aneurin Donald chose to bat first. However, the decision seemed to be quite an unsatisfactory one as the team’s score was 73 for 5 in the 13th over and soon the team staggered at 91 for 5.
For England, Callum Taylor was the top scorer with 35 runs while Brad Taylor scored 33 not out. For the kangaroos, Nair and Seymour took four wickets each to thrash the opposition at the score of 206 all-out in the 46th over. The English bowlers needed to struck early for a chance to win which was denied by the Australian openers Caleb Jewell & Matthew Renshaw. Both of them scored half-centuries and stitched an opening stand of 107 runs in 26.2 overs.
Jewell was dismissed lbw by Hampshire off-spinner Brad Taylor. Jordan Gauci got bowled for a golden duck on the very next delivery making it the last Australian wicket to fall. After that Renshaw and Jake Doran anchored their side to a smooth victory to get a lead of 1-0 in the five match series of this Australian tour. Doran struck seven boundaries in his unbeaten innings of half-century, while Renshaw hit a boundary to seize the win for Australia.
