Oscars 2024: Roger Federer and Wife Mirka Join The Royal Company Of Ana Ivanovic and Bastian Schweinsteiger in Their Striking Debut

Roger Federer has kept himself busy during his visit to California. The Swiss tennis maestro was spotted at the Golden State Warriors’ home arena Chase Center, which was announced as the venue for the 2025 Laver Cup. And now he was spotted on the red carpet of the Oscars, making his second appearance, along with his wife Mirka, with the couple dressed sharply.

Making an appearance on the red carpet of the 96th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, L. A, Roger Federer donned a white coat accented with a black bow tie and pants of the same color. He also wore black shades, which added to his elegant appearance. Mirka, Federer’s wife, appeared in an all-black gown with white collars and buttons and sheer sleeves. She brought a silver clutch to complete her dazzling outfit.

This was Federer’s second appearance at the Oscars, the first coming in 2016 when he famously had a tequila shot. The tennis icon gulped one down on the red carpet of the 88th Academy Awards and later congratulated Leonardo Di Caprio for his maiden Oscar win.

Roger Federer has been on a visit to San Francisco and made a trip to Chase Center which was announced as the venue city for the 2025 Laver Cup, a brainchild of the tennis legend. During his visit, he also saw the Golden State Warriors in action against the San Antonio Spurs. Earlier he saw the GSW in practice and he even took a shot at basketball himself. Meanwhile, he wasn’t the only tennis star to grace the Oscars this year.

Ana Ivanovic wore a yellow dress, with some jewelry and a black clutch. She walked to the venue with her husband, former German soccer player Bastian Schweinsteiger, who was wearing a fitted black tuxedo. The couple have been seen at the Academy Awards for the first time. 

The purpose of the visit of both couples is different. One couple is there to work, and another couple is at the event to look forward to a night of relaxation, while Schweinsteiger is having his own fun.

When asked what he was doing at the event, Roger Federer replied, “I was invited, and usually I had many things to do around that date, so I told myself, why not spend the night at the Oscars with my wife and see the stars?” For them, it is time to kick back and relax and witness some of their favorite stars receive awards for their work throughout the year.

Schweinsteiger is at the 2024 Oscars simply as a plus-one to his wife. Speaking to Bunte, the former FC Bayern Munich star said that he was there to accompany his wife, who was at the event for work. He also said he wanted to see how events transpired in the US. But he also had a cheerful moment with American alpine ski racer Lindsey Vonn.

Vonn shared a video on her social media from a pre-Oscars event featuring her alongside Schweinsteiger and Ivanovic. In the video, the former German midfield player pretends to win an Oscar and refers to Ivanoic and Vonn as his assistants.
