The soccer legend, Megan Rapinoe has often received praise for her remarkable contribution to the United States national team’s legacy in various tournaments. However, despite winning two World Cups, and an Olympic gold medal for her country, the 38-year-old player is now in the face of adversity due to one bad kick in Melbourne. The former Ballon d’Or Feminin winner’s missed penalty against Sweden marked the earliest knockout defeat ever for the US at the FIFA World Cup. Due to the same, the OL Reign player is now become a target of scrutiny from many of her compatriots including the former US president, Donald Trump.

In his recent social media post, the 77-year-old American politician pointed out Rapinoe’s penalty miss while deeming her as the villain for the country’s historic loss. Now, amidst this adverse phase, the renowned broadcaster, Piers Morgan further fueled the fire for the soccer star by bringing to light her “diabolical” demeanor towards her fans. Taking note of the same, the Aussie tennis player, Nick Kyrgios has also sided with Morgan as they lashed out at the NWSL star on Twitter.

The 58-year-old broadcaster recently shared an old video clip of Megan Rapinoe, in which she was sighted at the ESPYS Awards in Los Angeles, a few seasons back. During the prestigious event, the American soccer legend also signed an autograph for a young fan but she did so without making any eye contact with him.

Taking note of the controversial incident, Piers Morgan has recently lambasted the OL Reign star by labeling her behavior towards the fan as “Diabolical arrogance” in his Tweet. Later, the ATP player, Nick Kyrgios, who is known for his no-filter demeanor, also came across the video clip as he joined the British broadcaster in criticizing Rapinoe on Twitter. While retweeting the post, the Aussie said, “Hahahahahaha one thing me and piers agree on”

Her male counterpart, Daniel Evans, on the other hand, received $353,445 prize money following his triumph in the outdoor hardcourt event. It led to a wildfire on social media as many fans voiced their frustrations about the pay discrimination in the tennis community.

However, Kyrgios, with another blunt take on Twitter, reminded the fans about the money his ATP rival, Djokovic received after his remarkable campaign in the British Slam. As the runner-up, the Serb received $1.5 million while the Wimbledon champion and the WTA player, Marketa Vondrousova bagged an amount of around $3 million. Notably, the controversial tennis star countered the fan’s argument with his direct Tweet on the pay disparity in the tennis circuit.
