Andre Agassi is a legend in the world of tennis, having won eight Grand Slam titles and spent 101 weeks as the ATP number 1. However, it does not seem like he is ready for retirement yet after his recent performance at the much-awaited Pickleball Slam. While he teamed up with ATP icon Andy Roddick, he faced John McEnroe and Michael Chang on the other side of the net. This intense face-off garnered the attention of several tennis enthusiasts worldwide who were excited to see their icons holding a racket again! However, having won the tournament and the prize-money worth $1 million, Agassi has something interesting to say!
It now seems that Agassi has found a new love in the form of pickleball. In his recent statement after winning the Pickleball Slam with his partner Andy Roddick, Agassi expressed his intense enthusiasm for the sport that can come as a surprise to many of his fans, who will now have a chance to see him play again, even if it is not tennis anymore. This pro-Pickleball statement from Agassi comes after Rennae Stubbs’ criticism of the sport, and how demeaning it is for ATP legends to participate in the same for petty cash.
Andre Agassi is going to play pickleball “as long as…”
Agassi was candid in his post-match interview as he confessed that he can’t wait for his next Pickleball episode. He also confessed that he didn’t have the wildest idea that he would ever make this statement, indicating how practicing the game and playing it today has revamped his ideas on the sport.
When asked if he would like to play pickleball again, he says, “100% guys… I never thought I was gonna say this but I am playing this as long as I can walk. I can’t wait to get back out there.”

Moreover, Agassi also expressed his opinions on the energy and grit required to play the sport. This rings as a strong message to tennis fans who might not appreciate this new sport of pickleball as much as they love tennis. “Pickleball is where tennis players go to die”, says Agassi.

While Agassi played on the court today, his gorgeous wife and WTA legend Steffi Graf was there in the audience, cheering him on. There was even a moment when the 22-time Grand Slam champion decided to take on Agassi’s opposite side of the court, exchanging places with John McEnroe himself. Needless to say, this was a really admirable moment for the couple and their fans as they watched Graf’s adorable moves against her seasoned pickleball player husband! As it seems, this moment might have been a major contributor to Agassi’s passion for the game.
Agassi’s statement is significant because it shows that even at the age of 51, he still has a passion for sports and competition. Despite having achieved so much in tennis, he is not content to rest on his laurels but is always looking for new challenges and experiences. His enthusiasm for pickleball is infectious, and it is likely to inspire others to try the sport and see what all the fuss is about.
