Tomas Machac and Katerina Siniakova will represent the Czech Republic in the mixed doubles event in Paris. While the duo is at the peak of their careers, they announced a shocking decision of a split in their personal lives. Siniakova and Machac had been in a relationship for three years but reportedly called it quits just ahead of the Paris Olympic Games. Nonetheless, national duty comes first, and they proved exactly why.
Siniakova and Machac will bond professionally after a huge setback in their personal lives. The duo will take on the top seeds, Alexander Zverev and Laura Siegemund in the opening round. Siniakova recently participated at the Prague Open where she confirmed the news about her breakup with Machac. However, she confirmed that both of them are professionals and will continue to serve their nation at the Paris Olympics.
Interestingly, Machac and Siniakova were a well-renowned couple in the tennis circle over the past few years. The two often shared adorable glimpses together on social media. Their relationship began during the Covid-19 pandemic when they were in Australia. However, their latest pictures together came at the Indian Wells this year, and subsequently, the two haven’t shared any pictures of them together on social media, which signaled tensions in their relationship and fans were quick to catch it.

However, Siniakova confirmed the rumors surrounding her breakup with Machac, saying, “Yes, it’s true, but this is my private matter. Of course we will play, we are professionals,” Siniakova concluded when asked about their stint at the Paris Olympics. Playing together will help Machac as Siniakova has had a positive influence on his game.

While Machac primarily plays in singles, Siniakova is a renowned doubles specialist. She has been ranked as high as Number 1 in the world and currently occupies the second spot in the doubles rankings. As a result, Machac always looked up to her for help to polish his doubles skills.
He once said, “She’s a great player, especially in doubles, I think the results can speak about itself, so I don’t know she’s breaking the records every week in double. So, I for sure I got some advice but uh let’s say I won the tournament and for her, it’s no issue for me, let’s say so yeah. She helps me a lot.”
