The Wimbledon has commenced, and the coverage for the tournament has been top-notch so far. No moment in the championship has gone unnoticed. The post and pre-match discussions have elaborated on every facet of the match. While covering the first bout of Novak Djokovic, John McEnroe, covering for ESPN, experienced a small blooper. However, it ended up involving Chris Evert, and the Superbrat was left uncomfortable.

During their ESPN coverage, the panel discussed Novak Djokovic. The discussion began prior to his match against Pedro Cachín; the panel broke down the aspects of the match-up and the forms of the two players leading into the match. McEnroe favored Djokovic as he usually does, believing him to be the G.O.A.T. 

Chris Evert makes John McEnroe self-conscious

McEnroe was covering the third grand slam of the year on Monday morning. Early in the morning, he joined Chris McKendry, Patrick McEnroe, and Chris Evert to welcome the early risers. John began by toasting his brother Patrick for his birthday two days ago. He also shared a giggle with host McKendry about the British weather.

The panelists then began talking about a favorite of the gentlemen’s single’s favorite, Novak Djokovic. While they were discussing, McEnroe began adjusting his earpiece. As he was making sure it was set right, he said, “My earpiece – apologies.”

Struggling with setting it up properly, McEnroe noticed Evert staring at him. He joked, “Chris, you’re staring at my ear. I’m getting self-conscious.”

After the banter, the discussion transpired into the analysis of Djokovic and the G.O.A.T. debate. McEnroe, a big fan of the Serbian great, leaned on Djokovic.

G.O.A.T. pick of the former foul-mouthed player

The G.O.A.T. debate is one that will never die out. Along with fans, veterans of the sport also make their pick. The 64-year-old has talked about his pick being the 23-time grand slam champion many times. Lauding his hunger to go for grand slams and demolishing the competitions, McEnroe believes that Djokovic stands atop Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

Although he did bring Nadal and Federer to the same level as Djokovic, the current number 2’s hunger for victory has impressed McEnroe. Since there is no final decision between fans, the debate is sure to continue until the end of times.
