Can Paula Badosa's love help Stefanos Tsitsipas overcome his family drama and shine on the court?

Stefanos Tsitsipas must have hoped to celebrate his birthday with relatively more success during the hard court swing. But life had other plans! After a quarterfinal exit from the Paris Olympics, the Greek tennis star was hoping to find his rhythm at the Canadian Open. However, things stumbled a bit, and what followed was on-court anguish, anger, and the firing of his coach, aka his dad. However, while he is in a tough space with his family, Tsitsipas has his girlfriend, Paula Badosa, to rely on. The Spaniard shared wishes for her beau’s birthday with love and a heartwarming song amid family troubles.

The couple confirmed their relationship back in June 2023, and since then they have shared an affectionate bond. Recently, Badosa took to her Instagram stories to wish her boyfriend happy birthday while sharing love-filled snippets, giving a glimpse into their lives. The first two are from tennis, maybe practicing together while having fun. The third and the last one seem to be from a vacation, where they are seen washing away all the stress with smiles and togetherness. The Spaniard, captioned the story, “Happy bday to my best friend…te quiero 💚” the sweetest birthday wishes 👩‍❤️‍👨”

However, what caught the attention was not just the pictures of the couple but the song she used to convey her message loud and clear to the world and her “best friend” : Harry Styles’ Matilda’s chorus. Which goes by, “You can let it go, you can throw a party full of everyone you know, and not invite your family…” Undoubtedly, and attempt to showcase her love and support through every ebb and flow of life. And Tsitsipas might have needed this, after a big break out at the Canadian Open!

Win and lose are a part of any sport, but what matters is the fact of how they were achieved. Today would have been a more special day for Tsitsipas, had he won or given his best at the Masters 1000 tournament to mark the beginning of hard court season for him. However, things didn’t go as planned for the Greek tennis star.

He lost to Kei Nishikori in straight sets, during the opening round itself. Got in an altercation with his father, who was also his coach, until a few days ago. “For me an ATP Master 1000 match is an important match. I need and I deserve a coach that listens to me and hears my feedback as a player. My father hasn’t been very smart or very good at handling those situations, it’s not the first time he has done that. I’m really disappointed at him,” he remarked during a press conference post his loss.

Before firing him. And as he goes through the tumultuous time, as the family is certainly the biggest support in a player’s life. Badosa had stepped up to support him and make his birthday special!

However, the discord between the Tsitsipas family has taken the tennis world by storm, bringing the issues plaguing the Greek team to the fore. Meanwhile, Tsitsipas might have preferred to push things under the rug like other times. But it seems that he has reached his breaking point, and is on the hunt for another coach. Though this is not the first time that Badosa has showered love and understanding over the “Greek God”.

The tennis couple has never shied away from showing affection for each other. Remember the Wimbledon Championships? While Tsitsipas made an early exit from the tournament, he waited patiently to support Badosa as she progressed. Moreover, the moment she was back from the court, the Greek tennis star was the first one to hug and congratulate her.

However, Badosa seems to be big on love, too. As before, the big blast at the Canadian Open against Nishikori, she found a sweet way to uplift his spirits. When Tsitsipas captioned his picture from the pre-match conference, “Does this interview come with free poutine?” Badosa commuted with “Cute ❤️.”

It’s beautiful to see the couple share some sweet moments as one of them goes through a hard time. Though Tsitsipas would bounce back sooner than ever, he would need to search for a coach to replace his father and get back on the winning track. This can certainly wait for tomorrow, as the world sings the “Happy Birthday to you” song for the Greek tennis star!
