The final match between Nick Kyrgios and Novak Djokovic at the Wimbledon Championships garnered plenty of reaction from fans and fellow tennis players. Most people praised the Serb for clinching his 21st Grand Slam title and some also praised the Aussie for his incredible run at the Wimbledon Championships.

The final also had plenty of controversial moments, including a few line calls from the line judges and the chair umpire. American tennis player Alison Riske pointed out this fact, as she wants umpires to take some responsibility for making bad calls. Former American player Pam Shriver also chimed in with her opinion as well.

Then, former American tennis star, Pam Shriver also had her say on this matter, as she replied, “They have technology and funds to go all electronic and not sure why not do it.”

Meanwhile, Pickleball player Matt Manasse joined the conversation and had a similar thought. He said, “I wouldn?t wanna call 134mph serves. They should just go to computers lol.”

Notably, during the match, there were many bad calls from the chair umpire and line judges, particularly Kyrgios was at the receiving end of many bad calls. Later, in the replay, we saw many balls were in, but the line judges ruled them out. It is also worth noting that both the US Open and the Australian Open use electronic line calling now. Only Wimbledon and the French Open are still using line judges.

Despite all the controversies, the quality of the final was very high, as both Kyrgios and Djokovic pushed each other throughout the match. In the first set, Kyrgios displayed some incredible level of tennis and Djokovic had no answers to it; the Australian won the set, 6-4.

In the next three sets, we saw the champion’s mentality of Djokovic and his perfect game against Kyrgios. After winning the second and third set, Djokovic had to fight hard in the fourth set. In the end, the Serb won the fourth set in a tie-breaker and the match, 3-4 6-3 6-4 7-6(3). After the match, both players praised each other, as they had a fun interaction during the post-match interview, which showed they had a great bond off the court.

Meanwhile, Djokovic has probably played his final Grand Slam tournament this year. As things stand, he cannot play in the US Open due to his vaccination status.
