One of the most exciting tennis tournaments of the season is around the corner. The US Open, beginning on August 28, is set to feature top tennis players from across the globe battling it out for top honors. Additionally, this year’s tournament will see the return of Novak Djokovic. The Serb missed out last year owing to his Covid-19 vaccination status. With Djokovic back and the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in top form, it promises to be a thriller of a tournament. Days before the start of the Grand Slam event, USTA announced a massive partnership for the tournament.

The US Open has been one of the richest tournaments in the tennis calendar. Owing to multiple sponsorship deals that contribute to a major chunk of its revenue, the tournament has seen immense growth over the years. Here’s a look at the deal announced for the upcoming years.

Earlier today, the United States Tennis Association revealed that a multiyear deal with Tiffany and Co. has been agreed. Tiffany has been associated with the US Open for the last 37 years. It will craft every trophy that will be given at the tournament. However, in a first, they will oversee on-site, immediate hand-engraving of both men’s and women’s singles champions’ keepsake trophies.

Further, the US Open is celebrating the 50th anniversary of awarding equal prize money to male and female athletes. On this occasion, Tiffany will be crafting the special Lifetime Achievement and Leadership Awards. These honors will be bestowed upon pioneering women who have caused a massive impact through their careers.

Earlier this month, the US Open announced the prize money for the tournament. Despite these massive sponsorship deals, there was some disappointing news for this year’s champions.

Prize money for the final Grand Slam tournament of the season revealed

The USTA announced that the overall prize money this year will touch a record high of $65 Million. This figure is nearly an 8.5% increase as compared to the previous year. The reason for this hike cited by the association is an increase in the amount of expenses covered for players.

Despite the fact that the overall prize money has increased, men’s and women’s singles champions will still receive a far lower amount as compared to the pre-pandemic levels. The singles winners will receive $3 Million, which is $0.9 Million less than the pre-pandemic prize money. Nonetheless, players will give their all on the hard courts of Flushing Meadows to clinch an honor at the highest level of the sport.
