Will the Centre Court crowd turn on Raducanu, or will they show her the support she needs?

The British crowd fell silent on the fourth day of Wimbledon, marking the moment they said goodbye to a legend who lived his moments on the court. Andy Murray‘s farewell ceremony brought tears to everyone present. Although they wished for one more chance to see him play, Emma Raducanu’s withdrawal from the mixed doubles dashed those hopes. Will she face the wrath of the fans?

Emma Raducanu recently withdrew from the mixed doubles at Wimbledon due to a stiff right wrist. She was set to play alongside Andy Murray, but they were replaced by Rajeev Ram and Katie Volynets. Raducanu prioritized her health despite her excitement to play with Murray. “Unfortunately, I woke up with some stiffness in my right wrist. I have decided to make the very tough decision to withdraw from the mixed doubles,” Raducanu said.

Raducanu also expressed her dissatisfaction about missing the chance to play with Murray, adding, “I’m disappointed as I was really looking forward to playing with Andy but I’ve got to take care.” Although Raducanu’s withdrawal was intended to allow her to rest, it impacted Andy Murray’s Wimbledon farewell. The ATP star also withdrew from the men’s singles and was knocked out of the doubles. Despite his plans to retire after the Paris Olympics, fans were eager to see him play one last time at Wimbledon, possibly leading to backlash against Raducanu.
