Shapovalov and Bjorklund first met in 2019 and started dating soon after. They announced their engagement on Instagram in 2023, in a picture where Shapovalov went down on his knees to ask for Bjorklund’s support throughout his life in Sweden’s Bastad. They soon confirmed their wedding the next year.

Have an interesting take?

Denis can’t be around all the time when I’m playing events, so it’s super nice to have him support me in the box and I think he has a great eye for my game and for tennis in general, so I really trust him when he tells me things and when he coaches me, but he’s very keen on the fact that he’s not my coach,” she said. Bjorklund also said that she does “really appreciate” that support and feels “very reassuring” to have him by her side.
