Is Caroline Dolehide's mom right about the importance of balance for young athletes? Share your thoughts!

Caroline Dolehide is currently preparing herself for one of the most crucial matches in her career. The American is set to start her run at Wimbledon with an opening-round match against Coco Gauff. Dolehide has not yet made it past the first round at Wimbledon. However, she finds continuous support from her mother. She is a role model to mothers of aspiring athletes, as she asked moms out there to have more faith in their children!

“Sit back and let your children do what they love,” said Mary Catherine Dolehide, mother of American WTA star Caroline Dolehide, when asked about a piece of advice for other tennis moms. She believes that parents should allow their kids to go for their passions without a lot of interference, and as a result, all they have to do is “wait and see to be pleasantly surprised.”

Mary Catherine has four children, and surprisingly, all of them are athletes. The tennis mom also attends Caroline’s matches and has consistently backed her throughout her career. Caroline’s elder sister, Courtney, also played tennis and became the head coach of Georgetown University, likely giving pointers to her sister for the tennis courts. However, it was always her mother who backed her to stand ahead.

Mary Catherine didn’t just give advice but lived it as well. She wanted her kids to stay busy with sports to help them focus and manage their time. Caroline’s older sister, Courtney, also navigated her journey as a player, finally ending up being a mentor for the young enthusiasts. Mary Catherine thought playing sports was beneficial for her children’s development.

She said, “As a young child, I thought it was good for you to be focused and always have something going on outside of school.” Her approach allowed her children to build their respective careers in the world of sports. While it worked well in her case, other tennis moms can consider giving her advice a shot. However, it isn’t just Caroline Dolehide’s mother who has a piece of advice to lend.
