The British duo were slated to play their mixed doubles tie later today on Court 1. However, Raducanu wasn’t completely fit and decided to pull out of this event to focus on her singles commitments. This resulted in Murray losing one last chance to win silverware at his home Grand Slam tournament. This didn’t go down well with Murray’s mother, Judy, who made a harsh remark toward Raducanu. But the latter received fans’ backing, who criticized Judy Murray for her reaction.

Minutes ago, a sports presenter, Marcus Buckland, took to Twitter to share the ‘astonishing’ news about Raducanu’s withdrawal. The 21-year-old had soreness in her right wrist and as a result, decided to withdraw from the match with Andy Murray. Taking a jibe at Raducanu for preventing Murray from having one last chance to shine at Wimbledon, Judy commented, “Yes, astonishing.” Despite being a 2-word reaction, it told a lot about how Murray’s mother felt after Raducanu’s withdrawal.

Fans call out the mother of Andy Murray over Emma Raducanu’s criticism

At the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, Raducanu has participated in both singles as well as mixed doubles. However, with her minor injury, she wants to focus on singles, where she has reached the fourth round. Her recent injury kept aside, it has been a rejuvenating campaign from Raducanu as fans have seen the best of her in recent times. This factor also helped Raducanu get the support of fans on social media when Judy took a dig at her with her 2-worded statement.

One of the fans questioned Murray’s mother over her insensitive comment, saying, “That’s a bit of a sly dig Judy……why should she risk herself, prioritise this mixed match over her singles chances?”

After playing his men’s doubles tie with his brother Jamie, Andy Murray got a warm send-off from the fans. One fan compared how Murray would have done the same thing had he been in Raducanu’s shoes.
