Her family moved to Switzerland when she was two years old. Her father took her to a tournament in Filderstadt, Germany when she was nine years old. There, Mirka met Martina Navratilova, who suggested she practice tennis since she carried an athletic physique.

Later, Navratilova sent her a racquet and arranged for her first tennis lesson. She was a top-100 player during her prime. Her best grand slam record is when she played till the third round of the US Open in 2001. In 2002, she was forced to quit due to a foot injury. Now, she is working as her husband’s public relations manager.

How did Roger Federer meet his wife Mirka?

Roger was competing in the 2000 Sydney Olympics for the first time, and it was there that he met Mirka. He was an 18-year-old, but Mirka was four years his senior. They became close throughout their time together, and their first kiss occurred on the final day of the tournament: “We spent two weeks together, that’s how we got to know each other, and on the last day before we left, we kissed for the first time.”

Dating to Wedding?

When the two started dating, Mirka was still an active player. However, an unfortunate foot injury in 2002 forced her to retire rather early in her career. When she first became injured, she was waiting for recovery and spent her time working as Roger’s manager and made it a full-time job after she retired. The two continued to date, and their relationship has stayed solid.

They dated for nine years before eventually tying the knot in 2009. “Earlier today, in my hometown of Basel, surrounded by a small group of close friends and family, Mirka and I got married. It was a beautiful spring day and an incredibly joyous occasion,” Roger announced at the time.

Roger Federer’s wife is his support system

Mirka used to frequently attend Roger’s matches with their four children. Mirka and their sets of twins were in the stands as Roger won Wimbledon in 2017. Roger has been vocal about his desire to remain humble despite being one of the world’s best tennis players, and he credits Mirka with helping him determine his priorities.

After winning the 2017 Australian Open, he attributed his longevity in part to Mirka’s support. “She’s?been there when I had no titles, and she’s still here 89 titles later, so she had a big part to play in [the win],” he said after the final.?

When Roger Federer announced his retirement in September 2022, he personally thanked Mirka, saying, “She has warmed me up before finals, watched countless matches even while over 8-months pregnant, and has endured my goofy side on the road with my team for over 20 year.”?

Mirka and Roger had twin daughters named Myla and Charlene in 2009, followed by twin boys named Leo and Lenny in 2014. “This is the greatest day of our lives,” stated the tennis legend in a statement. “Mirka, Myla, and Charlene are all very healthy and doing well.”

Roger stated at a news conference that he was looking forward to traveling with his sons. “You need to be well organized, but by now we know how it works. I am looking forward to life on the tour with the family, and it will be a long time without any traveling after the tennis is over. So I’m looking forward to the next couple of years now.”
