Will the 2024 US Open be the most thrilling tennis showdown we've seen in years?

Have an interesting take?

In the men’s tour, three players will be on the radar all the time at Flushing Meadows. They are, world number one Jannik Sinner, four-time US Open champion Novak Djokovic and the in-form Carlos Alcaraz. Point to be noted: Among these three, both Djokovic and Alcaraz have tasted title triumph at this iconic tournament. Is it time for the Italian this year? He has already won one major title in this season at Melbourne.

What lies ahead of him in New York? Well, let us clear this out for all Sinner fans, Sinner can meet Djokovic only in a hypothetical final. However, Alcaraz may face one of them in the SF. So, be ready for some fireworks!

Looking at the women’s section, the top five seeds are Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina, and Jasmine Paolini. Gauff defeated Sabalenka in last year’s final. Both of them are two of the favorites on this surface at the moment. However, we all know what the world number one, Swiatek is capable of, on her day! So, even in the women’s tour, we can expect some nail-biting clashes.

Taking a closer look at the schedules once again, in the third round seeds 1 to 8 faces seeds 25 to 32, and in the R16 seeds 1 to 4 meet seeds 13 to 16. Then proceeding further, in the QF seeds 1 to 4 meet seeds 5 to 8. Alcaraz will have to play on the same day as either Sinner or Djokovic because he’ll be placed in the same half as one of them. Whereas in the women’s draw, Swiatek and Sabalenka are most likely to play on alternate days until the SF.

Looking at the history of this mega event, Richard Sears, William Larned, and Bill Tilden have the record of winning the most number of titles (7). All three of them were Americans, but surprisingly it has been almost 21 years since an American man had glory at this iconic venue. Who do you think is most likely to grab $3,600,000 and 2000 points this time?
