Italian tennis player Matteo Berrettini announced a shocking news today, as he is no longer a part of the Wimbledon Championships. Earlier, he announced that he had tested positive for Covid-19 and had to withdraw from the Grand Slam event.

Despite expressing his disappointment, Berrettini promised to make a strong comeback next year.

Meanwhile, The Italian player is not the only player who decided to withdraw from the tournament at the last moment. Yesterday, Croatian tennis player Marin Cilic tested positive for Covid. As a result, he also decided to withdraw from the tournament.

Berrettini had a tremendous start to the grass-court season

It’s safe to say, Berrettini was one of the favorites going into the tournament after winning two back-to-back tournaments on the green surface.
