The recent ban on Russian and Belarusian players from participating at this year’s Wimbledon has caused a massive controversy among the players. Many former and current players are weighing in with their opinions regarding the current situation. Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina demanded some answers from the Russian players about their stand in the current conflict. Now, another Ukrainian tennis star, Lesia Tsurenko, called out all the Russian tennis players, particularly, Andrey Rublev for ignoring this current scenario.?

Recently, the Russian tennis player, Andrey Rublev, gave his opinion about the recent ban of Russian players from Wimbledon. According to him, the ban is illogical and discriminatory. In response to that, 32-year-old Ukrainian tennis player, Lesia Tsurenko blasted the Russian for his comments about the banning of Russian players at Wimbledon.?

Earlier, she tweeted, ?That man is not interested in what is happening in his own country. At all. He also is not interested in what is happening in the neighboring country. Impressive? What an abyss between our states and people, that I have not noticed for so long! I so regret it. I was blind.??

Rublev had also suggested donating his prize money for a humanitarian cause if Wimbledon allowed them to play.?

Other players react to the ban on Russian players?

Recently, Elina Svitolina mentioned that Russian players need to speak up instead of staying silent. However, she wanted them to play in tournaments so that she could beat them. Current world No.1, Novak Djokovic didn?t quite agree with Wimbledon?s decision. According to him, politics should not interfere with sports. Also, former Ukrainian tennis player Alexandr Dolgopolov slammed the Russian tennis star Rublev for suggesting donating the prize money.?

Meanwhile, ATP and WTA released a statement that showed their displeasure about the banning of Russian and Belarusian tennis players. According to them, players should participate in tournaments solely based on their rankings. However, Wimbledon didn’t particularly follow this particular rule. Moreover, ATP and WTA have made up their mind about letting all the Russians and Belarusians play in other tournaments as neutral athletes.

As of now, the decision to ban the Russian and Belarusian tennis players from participating at Wimbledon still stands. It will be interesting to see if Wimbledon reverses its decision.
