The 2024 tennis season might be over on the court, but off-court activities have just begun! Especially for players who are ready to start a new romantic chapter in their lives. The wedding season couldn’t arrive sooner for the likes of Casper Ruud, Félix Auger-Aliassime, and Madison Keys. It’s been made pretty evident from their posts and pictures shared on social media lately. And now, it’s time for warm wishes and blessings! This time from Roger Federer’s ex-coach, Paul Annacone and ATP Legend, Sam Querrey!

In an episode of the Tennis Channel Live Podcast, dated December 5, Querrey, Annacone, and Host Brett Haber discussed all the recent happenings in the past week. Sports commentator Brett couldn’t stop himself from asking, “The love is in the air on the social net this year. How about all the weddings and engagements that have taken place? Starting with Casper Ruud, congratulations on getting engaged to Maria.”

To which Paul responded, saying, “Oh, boy. Isn’t it just great? We’re either, where are we? We’re either in the Maldives or we’re in Mexico, or this time of year is so special for all the vacations. And when you throw in a few weddings, it gets even more special. Look at the beach, the water in the background. Pretty special.” How could Sam stay behind in sharing his thoughts?

Giving a slightly amusing reaction, he said, “I mean, look, if you’re a tennis player, you’ve got about a six-week window to either get engaged or get married. Or we’ll break up. Right?” Tennis star Casper Ruud announced his engagement to long-time partner Maria Galligani on Instagram last month, sharing romantic photos and the simple yet heartfelt message, “I can’t wait to marry you.” The couple has been together for six years.

Further, Sam highlighted the tight deadline players usually get between the holiday break and the new season. “It’s all between November 15th and January 1st when you’re either engaged or you go to a wedding,” he added. The topic then moved to Félix Auger-Aliassime. In November, he got engaged to longtime girlfriend and Croatian equestrian Nina Ghaibi. The couple has been together since March 2019. However, Brett and Paul had a fun conversation regarding this couple. It’s because of their names.

“So this is to his now fiance, Nina. And my only concern here, guys, is that if she decides to hyphenate her name with Felix, whose name is already hyphenated, I’m concerned about how many names she’s going to have”, said Brett. “Is there a hyphenation quota, do we know? Or are we going to have hyphenation rankings on the tour?”, responded Paul. But he didn’t forget to wish them both. “Well, whatever we have, congratulations, guys. Another happy couple in that very brief off season,” he said.

Last but not the least was American WTA pro Madison Keys. She married her longtime boyfriend Bjorn Fratangelo in a star-studded ceremony in South Carolina on November 23rd, 2024. The couple started dating in 2017. Interestingly, he also happens to be her main coach. Bringing up their wedding picture, Brett said, “This is an actual wedding photo with two tennis players, Madison Keys and Bjorn Furtangelo. All kinds of tennis players showed up to this wedding in Charleston.”

Names like Jessica Pegula, Sloane Stephens, Jennifer Brady, Taylor Townsend, and Laura Robson attended their bash. “Congratulations to Maddie and to Bjorn, who’s now husband and coach. We’ll see how that works out,” said Brett. While it seems like the chemistry between Madison Keys and husband, Bjorn may eventually work out on the court too. It’s because of the special bond they have developed over years!

Madison Keys shares honest feelings on what makes her relationship with husband Bjorn Fratangelo works

“Best weekend of my life. I love you,” wrote Madison Keys for Bjorn after they tied the knot. Their bond has gone through a lot in the past. Especially during the time of COVID-19 when the two actually came closer. Although they were forced to stay inside due to lockdown, it actually made them get along really well. They got the much-needed understanding for one another. While expressing her love for Bjorn, Madison once said,

“Being in quarantine together has really shown us that we don’t have to be doing something in particular to enjoy being together. We laugh together a lot and Bjorn is constantly keeping me on my toes. We feel like a regular couple that lives a normal life, and we really don’t mind the normalcy that we have right now. Whether it’s the morning cup of coffee or even hitting balls together, these things could be taken for granted if it’s something you’ve done continuously for many, many years.”

Now that the two are officially husband and wife, it will be intriguing to see their journey going forward. Not to mention that their avid fans will only wish for them to stay happy together. What do you have to say about this newly married couple? Let us know in the comments below.
