Roger Federer is one of the most naturally gifted tennis players. His matches are a treat to the spectators’ eyes. Moreover, his attacking gameplay and single-handed backhand shots made him exciting to watch. Many tennis players like Stan Wawrinka, James Blake, and Tommy Haas used one-handed backhand shots during their playing days. However, none of them came close to matching Federer’s precision and accuracy in that shot. Recently, Simona Halep tried her hand at this shot.

It has been a long time since we last saw the Swiss maestro in action. He last played at The Championships, Wimbledon in July 2021. However, at the tournament, Federer suffered a quarterfinal defeat against Hubert Hurkacz. Additionally, Hurkacz inflicted a bagel upon the 20-time Grand Slam champion in the third set.
Meanwhile, Halep has endured a mixed 2022 season. The 30-year-old opened her campaign this year by clinching the Melbourne Summer Set 1 title. However, she suffered a fourth-round defeat against Alize Cornet at the Australian Open. Subsequently, she made it to the semifinals of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.
Further, Halep suffered a shock first-round defeat against Caroline Garcia at the Qatar Open. The Romanian tennis star had a semifinal and a quarterfinal finish in Indian Wells and Madrid, respectively.
