18-year-old prodigy Emma Raducanu has impressed almost everyone on tour with her exceptional gameplay. She is currently in the semi-finals of the US Open 2021 and has not dropped a single set at the Grand Slam.

In the Telegraph, Andy Murray‘s mother, Judy Murray wrote down an exclusive piece on Emma Raducanu. She believes that the 18-year-old has a great future ahead of her but she has to be careful and not overburden herself.

“The difficulty for any outstanding teen lies in handling the life and business of a professional player… It’s so easy to look at all these glamorous invitations and say ‘Wow, I would like to play there’. But you have to be smart with your scheduling. To give yourself time to develop your game away from the match courts, and to rest, recover and have some kind of social life,” wrote Judy Murray.

Judy clearly feels that Raducanu needs to be smart with her scheduling in the future and thus, cautioned her against all the possible pitfalls. She also mentioned that the British star can be a key player in the sport for the next 15 years.

“That’s where the people around Emma need to be savvy. There might even be times when they need to hold her back a little, if she really has the bit between her teeth and wants to push on to the next run of tournaments.She has the ability, the athleticism and the competitive spirit to be a key player on the tour for the next 15 years at least,” added the tennis coach.

Judy Murray gives an important piece of advice to Emma Raducanu

In the same article, Judy penned down that since Emma is new on the tour, there will be many distractions for her. However, she advised her to keep some experienced and calm people around her. According to Judy, they will surely help the youngster to take better decisions for herself.

“Emma is just coming onto the scene, so everything is new. It’s very easy to be daunted and distracted because there is so much going on… Having calm, sensible and experienced people in your corner is crucial. People who understand the importance of focusing on long-term success rather than short-term gains,” advised Judy.

Emma Raducanu will now face Maria Sakkari in the semi-finals of the US Open 2021. Fans have huge expectations from her and want her to keep playing with the same momentum. Will she be able to accomplish her maiden Grand Slam in New York this year?
