US Open’s popular beverage generates a record revenue

At this year’s tournament, a record high of 398,702 Honey Deuces was sold. It generated $8.7M in revenue for the tournament.

Honey Deuce is a spiked lemonade cocktail, whose popularity has been increasing exponentially every year. It is the official drink of the US Open and was launched in 2006. That year, U.S. Open sponsor Grey Goose asked Nick Mautone, a successful restaurateur who had been a managing partner at Gramercy Tavern, to create a vodka drink for the annual Grand Slam tournament.

Considering the heat in New York during the tournament, the beverage had to be a refreshing one. Additionally, the mini honeydew melons in the cocktail, which look like tennis balls, make it aesthetically appealing for fans. As a result, the beverage has seen a massive increase in its popularity over the years.

How did the 2022 US Open pan out?

The next generation of players undoubtedly dominated this year’s US Open. In the men’s singles, Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz won his maiden Grand Slam title as he defeated Casper Ruud in the summit clash. Further, in a match lasting three hours and 20 minutes in the Arthur Ashe Stadium, Alcaraz triumphed over Ruud in four sets 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (1), 6-3.

Meanwhile, in the women’s singles, World Number 1, Iga Swiatek defeated Ons Jabeur to lift her third major trophy. The Polish star continued her brilliant run this season that has also seen her win the French Open title.
