Anna Kalinskaya's gesture—proof of true love or just a PR move? What's your take?

Jannik Sinner came into the US Open on the back of a controversy. The Italian avoided punishment despite having tested positive for a banned substance in March. But even before that, he was in the news as rumors of his breakup with his girlfriend Anna Kalinskaya spread after the couple had returned from a vacation.

Kalinskaya and Sinner began dating sometime around the French Open. They were seen regularly supporting each other during their matches and Sinner soon confirmed their relationship. “Yes, I’m with Anna, but we keep everything very confidential. I won’t say more,” he said in a press conference. But only three months in, there were rumors about a possible rift between the two tennis lovebirds. But Kalinskaya has put that speculation to rest.

During the quarterfinal match between Sinner and Daniil Medvedev on Wednesday, Kalinskaya was spotted in her boyfriend’s player box cheering on the Italian. Kalinskaya’s show of support despite her own exit in the third round shows the couple are still going strong together. But what led to their separation rumors to surface in the first place?

The couple had been away on a vacation to Sardina after their early exits at Wimbledon. On their return, it was reported that Kalinskaya had temporarily unfollowed Sinner on Instagram. Besides this, the sightings of them roaming around with each other also diminished, adding to the worry of their fans.

It was also reported that Sinner had unfollowed the Russian, fuelling the speculation around their relationship status. The news emerged during their participation in the Canadian Open

But it later emerged that the couple had followed each other back on Instagram and it was the first sign of there being little truth to the reports of them not being together. Kalinskaya being in the player’s box for Sinner should come as no surprise, given how the couple have been seen supporting each other this year both on and off the court.

After Sinner went out in the semi-finals of the French Open, he shared an Instagram post reflecting on his run and congratulating Carlos Alcaraz on advancing. Underneath the post, Kalinskaya wrote, “Proud,” to reflect her happiness at her boyfriend’s efforts. Sinner also responded to the comment by posting a teary-eyed and a kiss emoji.

Moving to the grasscourt season, Sinner consoled his girlfriend during his Halle Open victory speech, with Kalinskaya having fallen short in the Berlin Open final. The duo were also captured having fun during a practice session at Wimbledon.

The pictures featured stylish looks of Kalinskaya in black and white, as well as in color. There was one image where she was seen holding a racquet over her shoulders, dressed in a red sports jacket, with a white skirt. Another one showed her flaunting in a flowing black and beige outfit topped by a black cap, with her clothing in a stylish, shiny black leather jacket in the other.

For the moment, fans can expect to see more of Kalinskaya as her boyfriend is now preparing for a second Grand Slam title win on this year. We might see more of their love pouring at the US Open before the tournament ends.
