The US Open and Hollywood are no strangers. Over the years, we have witnessed some renowned faces in the film industry gracing the stadium at the Grand Slam tournament in New York. Earlier today, another Hollywood superstar, Matthew McConaughey, showed interest in the sport, albeit on social media. This caught the attention of Coco Gauff’s coach, Brad Gilbert, who had a message for McConaughey.
The local American stars are on a roll at the US Open event. Three of the local players have already made it to the round of 16, which include Frances Tiafoe, Taylor Fritz, and Brandon Nakashima. However, Tommy Paul also has a great opportunity to make it to the pre-quarterfinals. He will face Gabriel Diallo in the third round later today and the American star will be a strong favorite to prevail in the match.
After McConaughey shared the names of the players already through to the 4th round, Gilbert suggested that Tommy Paul also has a great opportunity to proceed further. He said, “Good chance for TP today to make it 4 in rd of 16.” While Tommy Paul will be the favorite in today’s match, he might feel a bit of extra pressure of expectations after Coco Gauff’s coach mentioned his name.

Talking about Matthew McConaughey though, he isn’t a stranger to tennis. He closely follows the sport and was even seen in attendance during the title-winning clash of Novak Djokovic last year at the US Open against Daniil Medvedev. Additionally, earlier this year, McConaughey was seen boosting the morale of Paul after he suffered an ankle injury. The Hollywood superstar wrote, “Looks like the early year @TommyPaul1 train is back on track after it was interrupted by the ankle. Looking good TP. Roll.” While this has been a mediocre season for Paul, he is confident of a good performance at the US Open.
