What a performance! Frances Tiafoe secures his spot in the home Slam after beating Novak Djokovic conqueror, Alexei Popyrin by 6-4, 7-6(3), 2-6, 6-3 in R16. Shortly after completing this emphatic triumph, he got a bit emotional and said, “I always dreamt about playing on this court [since I was] a kid. I used to hit against the wall and wanted to compete on this court.” Apart from that, he also gave a special shout-out to a special individual who lightened up the stadium with his sparkling presence. Two dream-come-true moments for Tiafoe in one night?
Tony Goldwyn was seen attending Tiafoe’s match. How could the American tennis star overlook the renowned American actor in the middle of 23,771? He and his girlfriend, Ayan Broomfield, are big fans of Goldwyn! “Hold on. Sorry, sorry. Tony Goldwyn was in the crowd tonight. I’m a huge fan of you bro. Me and my girl used to watch Scandal all the time. I’m a huge fan bro,” Tiafoe said during the on-court interview.
Goldwyn’s co-star in ‘Scandal’, Bellamy Young, was also spotted in the stands of the iconic stadium on September 1. For those who are unaware, both Ayan Broomfield and Tony Goldwyn played a role in ‘King Richard’. Goldwyn played the role of Paul Cohen and Frances Tiafoe’s girlfriend was the double body of Venus Williams in some of the scenes.
