What forms a great partnership between two players? Surely their ability to complement each other. Such is the case with the successful partnership between Coco Gauff and Taylor Fritz in the ongoing United Cup as well, where they are representing Team USA. Reflecting on their bond, Fritz expressed gratitude to the former US Open champion, highlighting how humility and generosity between partners play a crucial role.
Gauff is back playing mixed doubles with Taylor Fritz in the 2025 United Cup. Together the duo overpowered Canada’s Leylah Fernandez and Felix Auger-Aliassime in Perth. The last time Gauff and Fritz shared the court was in the Paris Olympics where they were beaten in the quarterfinals by Gabriela Dabrowski and Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Ahead of the start of their campaign in the Paris Olympics back in July, Gauff had said, “Taylor and I did a mini practice. I think what he likes about both of our games is we both have good serves in our respective fields, I’ve played doubles a little bit more than him, so I maybe can do a little bit more, but I’m a singles player. So I think the biggest thing we wanted to focus on was serving and returns and I think we do that both quite well.” Now the duo is back together in Perth and has already helped the United States start their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Canada.

Although Fritz and Gauff both performed well, the ATP star still offered special leverage to his partner revealing how she carried the team against the powerful opponents from Team Canada. “What’s up, guys? Just clinched the match for Team USA. Coco is carrying me and yeah we’re ready for the next round,” Fritz said in a video shared by the United Cup’s official IG platform. Gauff was also spotted in the background smiling at the camera. Following Fritz’s remark, she responded, “We’re ready to sleep, see you guys!”
Coco Gauff was ecstatic with Team USA’s performance in the opening tie against Canada. This tournament means a lot to her as she aims to win the title for her national team, after missing out in the Paris Olympics.

Coco Gauff is “really happy” about her team’s performance in the 2025 United Cup tournament
Gauff and Fritz had a difficult time in both sets of their mixed doubles match against Canada but the duo battled hard to clinch the victory. Now, they await their next match against Croatia. Gauff had put USA 1-0 up in the tie by overpowering Leylah Fernandez in the singles by 6-3, 6-2, but Canada bounced back with Felix Auger-Aliassime beating Taylor Fritz in a thrilling three-setter by 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.

However, the mixed doubles sealed the deal for Team USA, and Coco Gauff’s happiness was quite evident after that. “Really happy with how we played today in the mixed, I felt we got better the longer the match went. We had a lot of chances and finally, we were able to stick ’em when it mattered,” she said.
The partnership between Coco Gauff and Taylor Fritz is vital for America going forward in the tournament. If they can continue the form that they showed against Canada, Team USA is in with a great chance. Canada’s campaign, on the other hand, is in jeopardy after their loss against USA in the opening tie. Who do you think will win the ongoing United Cup?
