‘The Big 3’ debate is raising the heat every day, either with a new name coming up or with denying another player to be a part of the greatest players ever. Their rivalry also made them unique, and the matches between them were always interesting, whether it was an exhibition match or a major tournament.
While Andy Murray managed to join them as the ‘Big 4,’ present-generation players are nowhere close to them despite the winning streak. Carlos Alcaraz was also denied a place among the ‘Big 3′ by Serena Williams’ ex-coach. Patrick Mouratoglou shared his candid opinion on Alcaraz being a part of the ‘Big 3.’ He described how Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic gained success and made a startling claim on the young Spaniard.

Mouratoglou shared a reel on his Instagram account in which he talked about the ATP N0. 1. He explained why Alcaraz does not deserve a place yet among the ‘Big 3.’ The French coach said, “I don’t like the idea of the Big 3 label for Alcaraz. We’re in a different era. There is no more Big 3 anyway.”
Serena‘s ex-coach opined that Djokovic and the young Spaniard are in a great place. He said, “And there is Novak, who’s dominating the game, and then Carlos comes in, wins two Grand Slams at 20 years old, and is in a position that is incredible, and he shows incredible qualities. To label him Big f**king 3 for me, it makes no sense.”
The 53-year-old reveals who the biggest players are at present. He said, “If you look at the game today, there is Novak and Carlos, Daniil, who is very close. He is winning a lot, a lot, a lot, and all the others, they are under.”?The number of Grand Sam titles that the ‘Big 3’ shared is more than the age of Mouratoglou, and they dominated a whole era before the present-generation players learned how to hold a racket.

Talking about the players who are yet to achieve their biggest break, the coach said, “Doesn’t mean they cannot win a Grand Slam, but for the moment, they are under. So, we cannot talk about the Big 3. We are talking about Roger, Rafa, Novak, guys who have 20-plus Grand Slams. So to label someone in the Big 3 on the men’s tour makes no sense for me now.”?
The ‘Big 3’ shared a total of 65 Grand Slam singles out of 80 among each other. The Tennis coach refused to imagine the recent Wimbledon Championships winner as a part of the glory because Alcaraz still has a long way to go. Federer, Rafa, and Djoker ruled Tennis for more than a decade.
One of the ‘Big 3’ were ATP No. 1 for over 17 years, starting from 2004 to 2021. In September 2022, Alcaraz emerged as the number one, pausing the reign of the greatest players ever. With the Australian Open win, Djoker claimed the first spot from Alcaraz, but the 20-year-old regained the spot after he won the Queen’s Club Championships and defended it with his first Grass Slam win against the Serbian legend.
