Tennis legends Andre Agassi and his wife Steffi Graf will be playing pickleball this year together as a team. Pickleball was earlier a debatable topic for tennis fans as some did not feel it was living up to the hype, and others did not believe that it was on par with tennis. However, with more tennis players like Jack Sock and Eugenie Bouchard moving to the growing sport, the interest in pickleball has grown exponentially in the past few months. Similarly, the Pickleball Slam has also played its part.

Recently in a video, Steffi Graf shared what motivated her to start playing the sport and how her husband Andre Agassi had a big role to play in motivating her.

In a recent video uploaded by the Pickleball Slam Instagram channel, Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi shared how their experience with the sport has been so far. The legendary tennis stars also revealed how they are planning to take it ahead. In the same video, Agassi’s wife Steffi Graf also shared how she got motivated to play the sport out of the blue.

She mentioned, “Seeing him kind of get ready for it and into it and really engaged for something you know. As a tennis player it is a little unusual and I am still learning to do. Seeing them have so much fun down in Florida on the day of the event it was really cool. They were all hurting afterward, but they sure had fun getting hurt.”

Last year, John McEnroe and Michael Chang faced off against Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick. In an enthralling game, Agassi and Roddick got the better of the veterans, McEnroe and Chang. However, more than the action during the match, it was Graf’s surprise cameo on the court that caught everyone’s attention. Who would’ve thought it was a preview to her involvement in the upcoming Pickleball Slam 2?

Graf was obviously taken aback by all the excitement surrounding the sport. And being a former tennis player, it was easy for her to learn it and be a part of it. Now, the couple will be playing together and this would certainly mark a comeback for her except this time, it won’t be on the tennis court.

Steffi Graf will make a comeback on the court in the second edition of the Pickleball Slam

The couple has been giving their all to perfect their shots, serve, and playing style to hit it out of the park in their first tournament as a doubles pair. Their first match is going to be against Maria Sharapova and John McEnroe who were also seen preparing for the match vividly. The match is set to happen on February 4 of next year and it will be aired on ESPN. The event will take place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood. And it is scheduled to begin at 8.30 pm ET.
