20-time Grand Slam champion, Roger Federer is currently away from the tennis court due to his knee injury and did not take part in this year’s Wimbledon Championships. Due to his absence, many fans did not turn up to this year’s Championships, as the low attendance is clearly visible.

However, today, the 8-time Wimbledon Champion returned to the Centre Court at Wimbledon to attend the centenary celebrations. During this celebratory event, Federer spoke about missing the Centre Court this year, as his knee injury.?

Federer also talked about his knee, which has been bothering him since last year. Speaking about it, he said, “I knew walking out here last year it was gonna be a tough year ahead. Maybe, didn?t think it was gonna take me this long to come back, but the knee has been rough on me.”
Notably, today is the 100th anniversary of the main stadium of the Wimbledon Championships, i.e. Centre Court. Earlier, Wimbledon invited many former champions to this event, including?Venus Williams, Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe, Billie Jean King,?Novak Djokovic,?Rafael Nadal,?Andy Murray,?Simona Halep, Martina Navratilova, and many other current and former champions. Unfortunately, 9-time Wimbledon champion, Navratilova, could not be at the ceremony after she tested positive for Covid.
Federer’s record at the Wimbledon Championships
Undoubtedly, Wimbledon is Federer’s favorite Grand Slam tournament, as he won it 8-times in his career, the most by any male player in the history of tennis. Hence, many fans call the Swiss player, ‘Grass court king’. Also, he won his very first Grand Slam tournament at Wimbledon in 2003.

Before that, Federer won the Wimbledon junior title in 1998 to announce his arrival on the tennis tour. In 2001, he won probably the biggest match of his career, as he beat Pete Sampras in the fourth round at Wimbledon, which ended his 31-match unbeaten streak. Although he did not win that year, he got the taste of his first Grand Slam title in 2003. Apart from winning 8 times, he also reached the final four other occasions.
