One such incident occurred recently.

Illegal tennis bets come to light in Massachusetts

It was found that DraftKings, a sports betting company, accepted a massive sum of nearly $8000 in illegal tennis bets in Massachusetts. The transactions involved as many as 864 illegal bets amounting to $7,867.

The incident occurred during a period of 12 days and bets were placed on the Universal Tennis Ranking tour. The bets were deemed illegal as they can be placed on UTR events in other states, but not in Massachusetts. DraftKings further revealed details during an adjudicatory meeting with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC).

As the investigation took place, it later came to light how the entire incident had folded out. Zachary Mercer, who is a member of the MGC Investigation and Enforcement Bureau, revealed that DraftKings cited “miscommunication between the trading team and the trading compliance team” that led to illegal bets being accepted.
