Earlier today, Roger Federer shared a heart-breaking news with his fans as he announced his retirement from professional tennis. According to his statement, the Laver Cup will be the last tournament of his career.

After hearing the news, many tennis players, including Juan Martin del Potro, Garbine Muguruza, Eugenie Bouchard, Carlos Alcaraz, Andy Roddick, and others, posted heartfelt messages for the Swiss tennis legend.
Tennis world reacts after Roger Federer announced his retirement
Notably, Federer posted his retirement news on all of his social media platforms, including Instagram and Twitter. Many former and current tennis players took to Twitter and paid homage to the great man.

It is worth noting that Roger Federer went through knee surgery last year after Wimbledon and has been trying to recover from it. However, it seems like it is still bothering him, as the Laver Cup will be the last tournament of his career. Moreover, he will most probably miss Basel Indoors, which he won ten times in his career.
