What makes any relationship a success? Probably, the efforts of the parties involved. Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas and his girlfriend WTA number 12, Paula Badosa have shown incredible efforts highlighting their strong bond. While Badosa appears as Tsitsipas’ great pillar of strength, Tsitsipas also makes visible efforts to understand Badosa’s culture and what can be a better method than learning the Spaniard’s language. After numerous attempts and declarations, Tsitsipas finally showcases his mastery of Spanish. Despite failing utterly, he won hearts with his act of love. So, what did Tsitsipas say?
Tsitsipas revealed a newly acquired talent while watching girlfriend Paula Badosa’s practice session for the BJK Cup Final in Malaga. Badosa, leading Team Spain, has already expressed her excitement about participation. “I’m really looking forward to representing my country,” she tweeted. Badosa also dropped encouragement for her teammates and charged her followers for a great match on the coming Wednesday. Given there is not much time for the tournament, the Spanish WTA star is busy practicing her strokes and her ATP star boyfriend took the moment to reveal an interesting skill.
A Spanish Tennis Channel tweeted a clip from Badosa’s practice session, which Tsitsipas retweeted with a Spanish message. “Did you know that you don’t have to pay tolls to get close to the network?” the Greek player wrote, retweeting the clip. The translation might not make much sense, but his gesture delighted Badosa’s followers.

Not just an attempt to impress the WTA star, but Tsitsipas has a thing for the language. Previously, Paula Badosa’s talented boyfriend mentioned his attempt to learn this European language. Not only did he express his admiration for the language and its accent, but asked the organizing committee of the 2024 Mutua Madrid Open to hire a Spanish tutor for him. “I asked for the Mutua Madrid Open to hire a tutor for me,” said the Greek in a post-match interview at the 2024 Western and Southern Open. “I love Spanish, the Spanish language, a lot…I’m really fascinated when it comes to accents,” he concluded.
Despite Tsitsipas’ desperate attempt to learn the language, his girlfriend Paula Badosa makes the challenge quite difficult for him. This is because Badosa comes from a specific region of Spain with a distinguished language, which often makes it harder for Tsitsipas to understand the words.

In February, the ATP star revealed an interesting difficulty that his girlfriend Paula Badosa put him in. After defending his title at the 2024 Los Cabos Open, Tsitsipas was asked to answer some of the post-match interview questions in Spanish. While struggling to keep the request, Tsitsipas revealed the reason behind his failure to succeed in Spanish is Paula Badosa. This is because Badosa comes from Barcelona, Spain’s autonomous community of Catalonia, and speaks Catalan. “Paula speaks only Catalan around me, so it’s been difficult. It’s her native language,” said the Greek. However, he promised the Los Cabos crowd to strive to learn the language. “From time to time, you know, certain members of the team, otherwise it’s mostly Catalan. Guys… I’m trying. I’ll try harder,” he concluded.
Stefanos Tsitsipas’ desperate attempts to learn and speak Spanish only show his love for his girlfriend Paula Badosa. Following such cute gestures, the couple has cemented their position as one of the tennis power couples. What’s your opinion of the Tsitsipas-Badosa pair? Let us know in the comments below.
