The world famous designer from Johannesburg, South Africa, Thebe Magugu, recently posted on Instagram about the news. According to her, this new gear is for “inspirational Adidas athletes… who are passionate about showing support for what matters and encouraging diversity and inclusivity on and off the court.”

Later, in an interview, the African designer said, “The collection really celebrates all the positive influences around me, and a sense of community that is so important to me. I hope it inspires the same joyful feeling in those who wear it.”
Notably, this is Adidas’ first African Heritage collection after collaboration with Magugu. Moreover, the collection is eco-friendly as well because it’s made of 60% recycled materials.
Some of the Adidas athletes, like Tsitsipas, Thiem, Pegula, and others, will wear this new collection at this year’s US Open.
