The tennis world recently spared a moment to revisit history. Soon after Amazon Prime released the highly anticipated documentary based on Roger Federer‘s last days on the ATP Tour, fans stormed social media with tales of emotional destruction that the film wrought. While the former pro himself agreed that the most poignant part of the documentary for him would be “Mirka and Rafa’s speeches”, WTA star Paula Badosa was focused on the Fed couple’s fairytale-like love story.

It has been less than 24 since “Federer: Twelve Final Days” was released on the global streaming platform. Despite being a die-hard fan of compatriot Rafael Nadal, Paula Badosa decided to switch sides and found herself lost in the loving connection between Roger Federer and Mirka.

Being driven by the adorable portrayal of the real-life love story and relating to that of her lovable connection with Stefanos Tsitsipas, Paula Badosa shared her feelings in a recent post on X. Roger & Mirka! What an inspiring couple,” she wrote. This wasn’t just a random thought that popped into the WTA star’s mind but something that people all across the globe are relating to.

While Badosa’s tennis speaks for itself, the former World No. 2 made headlines last month for famously breaking up with her Greek boyfriend. Just a few weeks later, the couple announced that they were back together, stronger than ever. Understandably, Badosa got more than a little emotional at another successful love story.

Roger Federer’s documentary has received remarks from several entities in the tennis world. Even though the film’s major target was his retirement from the tour, the most appreciated aspect turned out to be the gravity of the couple’s bond. Mirka’s influence on the Swiss tennis maestro’s success is unparalleled. Although she was forced to mark an end to her tennis career at an early age, Mirka Federer has also stated how proud she has been to support Roger.

“I will miss seeing him play tennis. Just because he plays so gracefully and so incredibly. I think people will miss the same,” Mirka shares by the end of the film, narrating how it was hard for her as well to see her husband quit something that has been close to his heart all along. However, it isn’t just Badosa who became a true admirer of their love story.

Roger Federer’s former coach shares his thoughts on Mirka’s influence

There are many people who played their parts in making Roger Federer the legend he is. While his former coach Paul Annacone shared a big part of his mentorship journey with the Swiss tennis maestro, he also had a strong observation on the loving chemistry the former pro shared with his wife Mirka.

“Mirka doesn’t get enough credit. She’s amazing. She really is someone that understood tennis and understands her husband so well, not only with the tennis but also with who he became as an icon. She’s incredible that she managed all that,” Annacone said, revealing the lesser-covered role of Mirka in the legend’s life.

Federer’s wife had to hang her racket for good back in 2002. It was an injury that forced her to make this decision but she still didn’t stop working to fulfil her dreams. Instead of navigating the way herself, she played a strong role in her husband’s career, never letting him stop or get distracted. Now that he dedicated a big share of his time to repay the efforts, it is still not easy to cover them all as their story continues.
