Is Tsitsipas' love life overshadowing his tennis career, or is it his source of strength?

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa can’t stop stealing hearts. After some hiccups in their relationship, where they separated and got back together, the two are one of the most adorable couples in the sporting world currently, let alone tennis. Additionally, they also spent time on the court together, playing some mixed doubles matches earlier this year. Recently, the pair was involved in another wonderful moment, albeit off the court.

Tsitsipas and Badosa have a joint Instagram account, Tsitsidosa, where they share their adorable glimpses together. Earlier today, they shared one such post about what a soulmate is. “It’s like a best friend, but more. It’s the one person in the world who knows you better than anyone else. Someone who makes you a better person, actually they don’t make you a better person, you do that, yourself because they inspire you,” said the post as they shared some of their most adorable pictures.

Like their millions of fans, Paula Badosa was completely in awe of the post and took to her official Instagram handle to react. She shared the post on her Instagram story and wrote, “Awww @stefanostsitsipas98,” along with a heart emoji. Looks like the two have become inseparable ever since getting back together earlier this year.

In an interview with Vicky Georgatou in May, Tsitsipas revealed that he was the one who initially decided to end their relationship. However, upon reflection, he realized the special nature of his romance with Badosa. “I feel that she is my person and we understand each other; that puts more value in everything I do and I want her by my side as often as possible. So yes, we’ve reconnected and we’re in a good moment.”

Meanwhile, hours before her first round match against Australian Ajla Tomljanovic, Badosa had to withdraw from the Wuhan Open this week owing to a gastrointestinal illness. However, she has overcome the issue and will feature in the Ningbo Open. Although both Badosa and Tsitsipas are in Asia, the two are in different cities, with Tsitsipas’ appearance in Shanghai this week.

Tsitsipas has managed to win just one title this year and has had inconsistent performances in the tournaments in the 2024 season. Furthermore, he was involved in an unwanted controversy after smashing his racket on the ground during his mixed doubles match with Badosa at the US Open. They eventually went on to lose in the first round as their campaign together came to an abrupt end.

Amid the show of frustration, Badosa sympathized with her boyfriend and defended him. She later revealed, “I didn’t see him and suddenly he threw the racket, which I didn’t expect. Then I called him out! I completely understand his situation and I’m there to support him, to help him. People empathise very little, but as long as I empathise and understand him, it’s all very well.”

Badosa even hit back at the critics on social media and said, “Frustration and stress are very normal in sport. Can you chill? Are you going to judge every step? You are very tiring!’ However, later, she deleted the comment. The Spanish beauty has always looked up to Tsitsipas in her career and will hope her boyfriend can get back to his best soon.
