“I’m quite a consistent player, so I wasn’t expecting that either,” Paula Badosa expressed after her QF defeat against Emma Navarro in the US Open. The Spanish star’s victory in Washington, followed by a semifinal entry in Cincinnati, made us all wait with bated breath for her US Open comeback after last year’s withdrawal. The former World No. 2’s dreams crashed in New York, but a romantic escape from the spotlight with her boyfriend, Stefanos Tsitsipas, can certainly heal the wound!

Posting a few glimpses on Instagram of their gateway in New York, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa gave major couple goals vibes! Be it an ice cream date or taking Badosa to a buffet restaurant that she “likes the most,” Tsitsidosa is making the most of their time together in the city! Moreover, posting a selfie outside the tennis court, all dolled up, along with one inside the court where Badosa is making funny faces during their matches further added to their sweet moments in the city that never sleeps!

“By the way, I’m top 20 now….@stefanostsitsipas98 AHA 😝,” Badosa wrote in the comments to her boyfriend who introduced her in a video during their restaurant date! Besides, she also wrote, “Love you!,” and “❤️” on the post, expressing her love for Tsitsipas, whom she started dating last year. The couple, who split in May 2024 before patching up a few weeks later, also maintains healthy competition with each other, as the former World No. 3 player, Stefanos, once said, “My goals are to surpass Paula’s best ranking, which is world number two, and to get better than that.”

Nevertheless, the couple who won the Mixed Madness trophy ahead of the 2024 US Open has always been there for each other in times of need, especially when Badosa’s last year’s season was cut short due to her spinal stress fracture. “It does create a difficult time for not just Paula but me, as well, having to be there and keep pushing her to kind of get well and jump back on the court,” the Greek player said of Badosa after she withdrew from the Indian Wells this year.

Badosa appreciates it too, as she often speaks of the “support” she gets from him. “I think he empathizes with everything and of course we met in a moment that for me was really tough because it was the injury but he’s always been there for me.” Badosa, who had never made it past the second round of the US Open before this year, achieved her best result in the event but will now need to take a step back and regroup to come back stronger next season. Meanwhile, Tsitsipas continues to cheer her on! The Greek star also opened up on how they always lift each other up!

During their participation in the Fan Week before the US Open tournament, Paula Badosa and Tsitsipas defeated Ben Shelton and Coco Gauff in a mixed doubles match. Following the match, Tsitsipas spoke about how their relationship helps them grow in their professional journey in tennis. “There’s always a shoulder that I can lean on and discuss things over but also be vulnerable and open up about anything that is carried deep inside of me. When I leave the tennis court I know there’s a big warm hug waiting for me,” he said.

Paula Badosa, who did not have a favorable season owing to her back injury, also mentioned how her boyfriend’s “feedback” and “experiences” helped her become a better player herself. The Monte Carlo Masters winner explained how they have “learned a lot from each other” about how to fight, grow, and tackle hard situations in life. As Badosa looks to bounce back from her loss in the US Open, she can count on her partner to be by her side, ice cream in hand!
