Tsitsidosa is over! But is it a blessing in disguise for the Greek tennis star, Stefanos Tsitsipas? While a huge part of their fan club is very disappointed with this abrupt ending to this beautiful love story, others think Stefanos Tsitsipas can now have “an extra focus” to yet again become the top 3 in the world. Jim Courier, the former world number one, is also on that list!

Courier recently appeared on the Tennis Channel Live Podcast. During the podcast, he was asked to reflect on which player outside the Top 3, he thinks has a real chance of winning the title at the Roland Garros this year. “I’m gonna go with Tsitsipas. He has had a breakup with his girlfriend (Paula Badosa). That will give him an extra focus.

He further went on to add, “I feel for them, I’m sorry. I don’t wanna wish bad on anybody. But sometimes after a breakup players can be focused and come out being furious.” Jim Courier has often showcased his support for the Greek tennis star in the past as well. During the ATP Finals last year, when everyone was lashing out at Tsitsipas for his decision to retire from a match, it was Courier who stood beside him.

Courier said, “Tsitsipas is a very thoughtful guy, and he is not an overly selfish guy when it comes to it,” during an interview with Tennis Channel. The 2023 season wasn’t as pleasant for the Greek tennis star, but he has been firing on all cylinders in 2024! He has already clinched a title in Monte CarloOther than that he has made it to one final, one SF, and a QF in the rest of his tournaments this year.

Unlike Paula Badosa his win-loss record are pretty impressive so far with 21-8. But fans are still wondering what was the actual reason behind their breakup. Although Badosa gave a clarification on her Instagram account about this, Tsitsipas has yet to make any comments on that.

“I have decided to amicably part ways – Paula Badosa giving her clarification on her breakup with Stefanos Tsitsipas

Both the tennis stars have already unfollowed each other on Instagram. Badosa said, “After careful consideration and many cherished moments together, Stefanos and I have decided to amicably part ways.” She further went on to add, “We have shared a journey filled with love and learning. And it is as friends with immense mutual respect that we now choose to move forward on our own paths. Badosa added that they’re pretty much grateful for all the support they got from their family, friends, and fans over this time span.

But now they want to move into the next chapter of their lives. “We kindly ask for privacy during this time. And we thank you for your understanding and respect,” Paula Badosa wrote on Instagram. It’ll be interesting to see whether Stefanos Tsitsipas comes up with his version of the message or if he has already shifted his focus to life on-court.
