Paula Badosa recently stunned the fans by announcing the end of her relationship with Stefanos Tsitsipas. The couple actively shared moments together on social media, consistently setting new couple goals for their followers. Although they have mutually decided to part ways now, their story will always be remembered by the fans, especially the adorable moment when they personally interacted for the first time.

During a 2023 interview, Tsitsipas narrated the incident when they talked to each other for the first time. The incident dates back to 2023 when Badosa was set to play against Ons Jabeur in Rome. “I made a bet with myself. I said ‘I’ll send Badosa a message if she wins her second-round match in Rome’ and she was playing very well, so I thought ‘Hey I have a good chance of achieving that today,” Tsitsipas narrated, mentioning that it was a candid bet on her game that made the ATP star approach her to trigger a conversation.

While the stars were aligned to bring them together, Badosa ended up winning the match and Tsitsipas stayed true to his side of the bet. “She did end up winning the match, so I kept my promise and I messaged her, ‘Congratulations,’ and I guess you can say, that’s how it started,” he added, summing up his narration.

From playing together at Wimbledon to supporting each other from the sidelines, Tsitsidosa went a long way. Both being active players, they shared once that healthy competition was a part of their relationship. “My goals are to surpass Paula’s best ranking, which is world number two, and to get better than that,” Tsitsipas teased after winning in Los Cabos last year.

But in a beautiful admission at the 2023 National Bank Open in Toronto, the Greek star declared that what he ultimately wanted was for them to succeed together. “My biggest dream of all is for us to do it together. To be World No. 1 one day together,” Tsitsipas said. “I think I can truly say that I have fulfilled my biggest, deepest desire in tennis to not just have done it myself but to have done it with a person that will be there for me for the rest of my life.”

While both have now decided to go their separate ways, the different chapters of their life still remain as journals of an adorable love story that grew on the tennis courts.
