“She is my person!” Remember when Stefanos Tsitsipas opened up about how important Paula Badosa is to him after they reunited? That heartfelt moment captured headlines and had tennis enthusiasts swooning over the couple. Finding a partner who truly understands your profession is something everyone dreams of. But for Stefanos Tsitsipas and Badosa, both top-tier tennis players, the journey is anything but easy.
Paula Badosa started dating the Greek tennis star in June 2023. Since then, the couple have often captured headlines for various reasons. They decided to part ways amicably this year in May but reunited again soon and have been living happily now. But, they have had their own share of disappointments, especially because of the criticism they face.
Soon after the two started dating, many critics claimed that Tsitispas had lost his focus on tennis. Now, Paula Badosa has taken a sharp dig at such remarks as she engaged in an interview with the Spanish Publication La Vanguardia. “Criticism is never easy to deal with, although sometimes we find it funny because people don’t realize that we are two people who share the same passion,” Badosa said.

Earlier, Tsitsipas had also reflected similar sentiments and said that some people get ‘fun’ by attempting to ruin happy relationships. Detailing the same, Badosa further added, “Sometimes, apart from separately, we also train together, so in the end we train as much or more than anyone else. I could understand this criticism of distraction more if it were with a person from another world, but being two athletes with a very clear objective, what I think is that people don’t even know what they are judging.”
Stefanos Tsitsipas says he & Paula Badosa are back together:
“We're together. I will explain why some people make up different stories about us. Not that I care, but I think people shouldn't take it that way. Paula didn’t do anything wrong, nor did I do anything wrong. It was… pic.twitter.com/T0Adzg9QwF

This is not the first time that Paula Badosa has criticized such people for their remarks. Slamming the remarks, Badosa said in 2023 “We both love tennis and he is also a super-working person, we are very similar in the goals we set for ourselves.” And their records speak likewise.

Tsitsidosa,’ as the couple is known, is often seen hitting courts together and practicing. They have also paired up for mixed doubles on certain occasions. In fact, ahead of Badosa’s Charleston Open campaign, Tsitsipas was seen warming up and practicing with her. But the Spaniard is not happy with the comments that have been made about their relationship. “I can understand criticism of my professional side, of my tennis, of whether I lose or win, but linking that to something personal seems disrespectful to me.”
While Badosa is ranked 65 despite the thigh and back injuries that marred her 2023 season, her Greek partner is ranked 12 in the World. Hence, the criticism that Tsitsipas lost focus is surely debatable and some people believe the criticism might also have impacted the relationship between the two, thereby creating conflicts. But, despite the breakup, their love life is back on track.

While Tsitsidosa split up in May, they reunited in less than a month, which surprised many in the tennis community. What followed was a series of adorable remarks from the Greek player about her Spanish counterpart. Speaking to Greek journalist Vicky Georgatou, Tsitispas said, “After two, three weeks I realized that she is a person who has supported me a lot and when she tried to talk to me about meeting I felt how intense the love we have for each other is.”
Tsitsipas shared that his bond with the 26-year-old was special and different from all his past relationships. “I feel that she is my person and we understand each other; that puts more value in everything I do and I want her by my side as often as possible.” Despite the criticism and concerns that many have raised about their relationship, Tsitsidosa has stood by each other’s side. And this reflects the bond the two share with each other despite adversities.
