Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek are the newest sensations on the block. Alcaraz won his maiden Masters 100 title at the Miami Open. In the process, the 18-year-old also became the youngest champion in the history of the tournament. Exhibiting great skills, determination, and maturity, the youngster is having a sensational season so far in 2022. His 18-2 win-loss record so far this year is only bettered by Rafael Nadal in 2022.
But he recently expressed sadness over the current World No. 1 in the WTA tour, Iga Swiatek not replying to his message after their corresponding Miami Open triumphs.

Did Swiatek hurt Carlos Alcaraz’s feelings?
In a recent interview, Carlos Alcaraz was asked if he and Iga Swiatek were the new royalty in the block. It is then that World No. 11 revealed the sad news. He said that he had texted the 20-year-old after Miami Open, but she, unfortunately, did not send the Spaniard any reply.

Swiatek is also currently riding a high, having had a fantastic 2022 so far. She reached the semifinals at the Australian Open, and then after a short dip in form at the Dubai Tennis Championships, she picked up her form at the Qatar Total Open, winning the tournament. She then completed the very difficult feat of winning the Sunshine double to win three back-to-back Masters 1000 titles.
Following Ashleigh Barty’s sudden retirement from tennis in March, Swiatek rose to the top spot in the WTA rankings last week. She should be hoping to carry that momentum on clay in the lead-up to the French Open later this spring.
This exchange between Swiatek and Alcaraz may raise doubts in some people’s minds about whether these two rising stars will be friends or not. But, there should be no doubt in anyone’s mind about the amount of skill that these two players possess, and the bright future that lies ahead of them.
