Serena Williams showing up for Dimitrov—Is this the best tennis friendship we've seen?

Serena Williams is back at Flushing Meadows, but this time, she’s soaking in the atmosphere from the stands. Her return as a spectator at the US Open has sparked some playful banter, and she’s clearly enjoying every minute of it. Caroline Wozniacki, her longtime friend and fellow tennis legend, sent some feisty reactions Serena’s way. But Serena, in true form, isn’t one to let a little banter get in the way of supporting her friends. She later attended the match of another one of her friends, Grigor Dimitrov, cheering him on with tremendous energy.

The Bulgarian tennis sensation took over Andrey Rublev in the fourth round of the Grand Slam. In the sea of spectators watching the match, one who caught the attention of the tennis community was the former tennis pro, Serena. She was seen enjoying the signature cocktail of the US Open, ‘Honey Deuce’ as she watched one of her closest friends play on the court. Interestingly, her presence came just a day after her other close friend, Wozniacki expressed she was ‘mad’ at the legendary player for not showing up for her match.

After defeating Jessika Ponchet in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, Wozniacki registered her complaint against Serena. Speaking in the post-match interview she said, “I’m gonna text her. I’m pretty mad at her for not showing up at my match (laughs). I saw she was watching Tommy. We have to talk about that a bit later.” Earlier, Serena was spotted watching the match between Jannik Sinner and Christopher O’Connell as well. But she didn’t turn up for Wozniacki’s match. However, amidst the banter from Wozniacki, the 42-year-old fulfilled the wish of Dimitrov.
