Alexis Ohanian is back at it again, effortlessly blending humor and wit to captivate his audience. The Reddit co-founder isn’t just a tech mogul; he’s also Serena Williams’ ultimate hype man—and he takes that role very seriously! So, when Carlos Alcaraz stumbled in a playful moment, failing to identify Serena as the answer to a question (yes, Serena Williams), Ohanian couldn’t resist chiming in. And, true to form, his reaction was equal parts cheeky and hilarious.
The Spanish tennis sensation wrapped up his year after appearing at the Davis Cup Finals where his team could not achieve enough success. However, his season has been quite fascinating with Alcaraz winning two Grand Slams at the French Open and Wimbledon, besides the prestigious Olympic silver Medal. Now, he seems to be enjoying some much-deserved break ahead of the next season and is participating in fun activities.
In a video that surfaced on social media platforms, Alcaraz engaged in a candid conversation and was quizzed about which player possessed the most expensive trading card of all time. The young star was seen making some guesses and took names of players like Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal. Finally, when he was clued in and told it was a “she”, Alcaraz was quick to jump to realization. “Ah, she… alright, Serena Williams.” But this late realization did not sit well with Ohanian.

Taking to his Instagram story, the Reddit co-founder shared the video with a cheeky take. Tagging Carlos Alcaraz, he wrote, “I’m gonna let it slide that you didn’t guess right the first time.” Remember, the Williams 2003 NetPro International Series Authentic Apparel Patch Autograph card is valued at a whopping $266,400. But the fun fact does not end here.

The card was interestingly bought by Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian to keep the collectible in-house. When Alcaraz was informed about the same, he said, “It was a good buy then.” For the unversed, Ohanian is passionate about collecting memorabilia in the form of trading cards, and it’s not just limited to her wife’s
In 2023, Ohanian gave a sneak peek into his card collection which does not just have his wife’s cards. His collection includes the rookie card Venus Williams, a picture of which he also shared on his Instagram story. Besides, his collection also has cards of Andy Murray, Federer, and Nadal. But amidst the several cards he has, there is one that stands out, and Ohanian revealed about it himself.

When Alexis Ohanian opened up about a special Serena Williams trading card
Alexis Ohanian’s love for his wife is immense. It is probably for this reason that he does not refrain from collecting as many memorabilia as possible related to his wife. But in the remarkable collection of cards that Ohanian has, there is one that stands out and even the Reddit-co founder acknowledged it.
In May this year, a post by ALT, which claims to be the modern marketplace to buy and sell trading cards, gained traction. In the video, a person detailed the favorite card of Ohanian and said, “This is actually Alexis’ favorite card. And it’s the 2018 Employee Exclusive Patch Auto. But he loves it because this is a photo of her in the 2017 Australian Open, where she was pregnant with Olympia. So this is his favorite card by far.” Interestingly, Ohanian reshared the video on his Instagram story, acknowledging the fact.
