Federer highlighted the importance of Nadal for him and the sport and shared some unique moments he cherished with him. His appreciation quickly drew the attention of many fans and players alike and the one who responded in affirmation was the former American sensation, Williams.
The 43-year-old shared a two-word response to Federer’s post as she lauded the Swiss legend. “Well said 🥹🥹,” she wrote, signifying her support for the emotions for Nadal expressed by Federer. For the unversed, Federer highlighted that Nadal “made the whole tennis world proud.” He also shared some lighter moments and mentioned the time when he sent his children to Nadal’s own academy. Federer further highlighted how Nadal forced him to bring out the best in himself and experiment with his skills continuously.

“You know what, Rafa, you made me enjoy the game even more,” Federer shared. Roger Federer went on to acknowledge that he was often baffled by his presence and skills and congratulated him on his incredible career, expressing his support for him. “I just want to congratulate your family and team, who all played a massive role in your success. And I want you to know that your old friend is always cheering for you, and will be cheering just as loud for everything you do next.” But interestingly, it was not just Federer who shared such tribute for Nadal. Williams too, paid a heartwarming farewell to the Spanish great through a unique gesture.
Taking to X, Serena Williams shared a video of herself where she was seen wearing a unique Nike gear. She donned a white t-shirt with Rafael Nadal’s picture, along with his iconic raging bull logo etched on it. She also wore a headband which too, had a similar logo. Captioning the video, she wrote, “Congratulations on a career that most wont dare to dream of. I feel so fortunate to have been able to play when you were playing and being Great. You inspired me to be better, to play harder, for fight, to never give up, and to win more.” And as Nadal’s fans and colleagues are sharing heartwarming responses on his retirement, his last match was equally difficult and emotional for the player too, as he himself revealed after the defeat.

For a player who amassed immense love besides the glorious 22 Grand Slams, bidding adieu to the sport was not easy. Rafael Nadal faced immense emotions as he prepared to draw curtains on his two-decade-long career which he himself admitted after facing a defeat against Botic van de Zandschulp.
Speaking after the match, Nadal shared, “I was having an emotional day, nerves before what could be my last singles match as a professional.” Continuing further, he added, “The emotions hearing the national anthem for the last time as a professional were very special, mixed feelings makes things a little bit more difficult.” Remember, these emotions were very well evidenced when Nadal joined his team for the National anthem with teary eyes as fans created an electric moment in the stadium.
