“He is the most complete player I have ever seen. Every box is checked from the technical to mental with imagination and inspiration,” – Serena Williams’ childhood coach, Rick Macci made these comments on Carlos Alcaraz in October. The 21-year-old Spaniard had a decent season this year winning four titles in total, out of which two were Grand Slam triumphs. Now, since the season is over and it’s time to shift our focus to the 2025 season, Macci was recently seen revealing the “X factor” that could propel Alcaraz to stardom in 2025.
Talking about stardom, just a few days ago we saw Andy Roddick speaking about Carlos Alcaraz’s incredible ability to pull the crowd no matter where he goes. We saw that in Madison Square Garden and Charlotte, right? This Spaniard has a huge fan following in the US and American tennis legends like Roddick and Macci have always been a big admirer of Carlitos. Serena Williams’ former coach, Rick Macci even hails him as a “unique generational talent.“
Just a few days ago Macci shared his optimism surrounding Carlos Alcaraz in the 2025 season. He wrote, “Fasten seat belt in 2025 as the young Carlos Alcaraz now has tasted the ups downs highs lows peaks, and Valleys and the magician will win 2 or 3 Slams and produce many epic jaw-dropping breathtaking Rallies. @carlosalcaraz.” Now, he has come up with yet another tweet on the Spaniard. What did he say this time, though? He shared some of his observations on his game and also gave him some free advice.

“The X factor will the Spanish Magician will be the first serve percentage. With a scienced based approach, the external shoulder rotation and counter-rotation of the spine can be modified and maybe a platform stance to keep his weight from shifted too soon will produce better spots to hit and set the table to eat. @carlosalcaraz,“ Macci tweeted. What are his numbers on the first serve, this season? Well, according to the ATP Tour’s official record on their website, Carlos Alcaraz has won 73% of his first serve this season.

What are his numbers on the second serve? Well, the Spaniard has won just 57% of his second serve in this season. He has hit 265 aces and committed 119 double faults in 2024. Surely, the world number 3 will be keen to improve his numbers in the next season. We’ve seen Serena Williams‘ former coach showcasing his optimism for Carlos Alcaraz in the upcoming season, but what targets has Alcaraz set for himself in the next season?
Carlos Alcaraz looks very “ambitious” ahead of the 2025 AO
Carlos Alcaraz is just 21-years-old and he has already won four Grand Slam titles in his career. However, the AO title has been the only missing thing in the puzzle for the Spaniard. So, he is very keen to make it count this time around in Melbourne. Talking about his goals for the next season, previously we heard Carlos Alcaraz say that his goal will be to stay fresh in the last phase of the season. Then after that, he was seen portraying his thoughts on his upcoming mission.

“I am a very ambitious person and I want to win the Australian Open to complete the career Grand Slam,” said Alcaraz. Not only that, but he also spoke about his desire to get a tattoo after winning the title in Australia. “I want 2025 to be even more exciting. Let’s say I want more. Australia is what I want to tattoo, even if my father doesn’t like it very much. Being champion there is my main goal for next season,” added Alcaraz. Everyone in the tennis world rates this lad pretty highly. So, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him clinching the major title in the first month of the 2025 season.
Talking about rating highly, previously Serena Williams’ former coach said, “He is a combination of, I tell everyone, Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Agassi, all rolled into one. I think he will get a lot of Grand Slam tournaments, it’s unreal. I feel like, in my opinion, he’s by far the leader in the clubhouse.” Now, Andre Agassi was heard reflecting a similar line on the Spaniard! During a recent talk session in Bengaluru, India, Agassi said, “I’m not a genius and I don’t have a crystal ball. What I can tell you is Alcaraz defends like Novak, has power and spin like Nadal, and has hands and finesse like Federer.” Do you agree with these comments on Carlos Alcaraz?
