Despite the absence of Venus and Serena Williams at the US Open 2021, the American line-up seemed robust enough. However, it ended terribly, as none of the male or female American tennis players qualified for the singles quarterfinals. Notably, it is the first time in the century-old US Open history that such a thing has happened.
However, apart from the Williams sisters, the withdrawal of Sofia Kenin and Jennifer Brady because of injury also hurt the American line-up. The last ones to go out were Shelby Rogers against 18-year-old Emma Raducanu and Jenson Brooksby against World No.1 Novak Djokovic.

US Open 2021 without Serena Williams helps Novak Djokovic break American players streak
Unquestionably, Venus and Serena both have single-handedly made a name for American tennis in the world. They own eight US Open titles; Venus has two, whereas Serena has six. Therefore, their absence was almost palpable.
However, when Shelby Rogers upset World No.1, Ashleigh Barty, hope rose for the American fans. Not to forget how meticulously the fans supported local players to cause big upsets in the tournament. For instance, a hefty credit goes to the crowd behind Frances Tiafoe‘s win over Andrey Rublev in the fifth set.

But eventually, Rogers fell to a first-time main draw entrant in New York, Emma Raducanu. Hence, all hope was on the 20-year-old Jenson Brooksby.
Unexpectedly, the inspired American stole the first set from Novak Djokovic 6-1. Indeed, the electrifying energy from the crowd gave him the belief to go all the way.
However, the 20-time Grand Slam champion went straight back to business after the opening set. Soon, he closed the match 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.
After Brooksby’s exit, no American singles player remains in the main draw. It will indeed cause a big blow to viewers and crowd capacity for the most crucial stages of the tournament.
This is WILD:
Defeat for Jenson Brooksby means that for the first time in history there will be no American singles player, male or female, in either the quarterfinals or the semi-finals of the #USOpen.
