Sharapova’s admiration extended beyond Alcaraz’s on-court miracles; she appreciates his humble approach to the game. Drawing from her experience, she highlights the diversities that men’s tennis brings in where players from different parts of the world come in with different playing styles and produce some of the best matches on the courts.
“Can’t even call Alcaraz younger generation because he’s already you know, at the top of the top. But there’s an aura about, you know, the men’s game that’s very evident. You know, my last coach in my career also coached Sinner for several years, so I got to play with him a little bit. But what’s interesting is they’re all so different. They’re different styles of play, have different personalities, are from different parts of the world. And it’s just fun to see these rivalries come together,” said Maria Sharapova in her podcast.
Thus, Maria Sharapova enjoys the rivalries that make the game even more beautiful. According to Sharapova, the men’s game is currently in a healthy state, suggesting that a bright future is on the cards for them. However, recently, the two crossed paths with each other in Toronto. While the meeting was purely unexpected, Carlos Alcaraz shared his views on meeting the former world number 1.
