No one wants to see the end of an entertaining show! We wish our favorite shows could have run forever, right? A sportsman’s career is no less than a show and Roger Federer’s illustrious show, after running for almost 24 years, came to an end on September 2022. Ever since that day, the tennis world has been missing his gigantic presence on the courts. It ended in the fifth edition of the Laver Cup and now we’re just a few days away from kick-starting the seventh edition. But before that, the ‘Swiss Maestro’ has shared a major update.
He’s geared up to watch some lip-smacking action at the latest edition of the Laver Cup in Berlin. Recently, we saw a video where John McEnroe rushed up to the Swiss star asking him, “Would you like to hit some?” However, Roger Federer looked a bit hesitant in his response. He said, “I would, I’d be ready to go… Just, just a few shots you know,” but then he gently faded away from the scene and was later spotted having a chat with Patrick McEnroe. Fans would’ve loved seeing Federer play a few shots at the Uber Arena. Has his love for playing tennis vanished completely, though?
Well, the answer to this could possibly be ‘No,’ because during a recent interview with the Laver Cup, he was heard saying, “I just told the guys here this court looks so ready to be played on … I wish I was them.” Just imagine how exciting it would be to see Roger Federer back on that iconic black court. He further added, “I’m still playing some; I’ve actually played quite a bit especially since I launched the Wilson racquet, the RF 01. I’m really enjoying hitting. I play with my family, I play with my friends, and it’s been good fun.” So one thing is for sure, Federer’s love to step onto the courts with racquet in hand is still well alive.

Have an interesting take?
Previously during an interview with GQ, Roger Federer said that he is actually “relieved” to be done with his tennis career. He revealed that he has no intentions to go back to playing competitive tennis after his retirement. Reason for this unpopular statement? “I think it’s also because I know that my knee and my body and my mind don’t allow me to be out there. Do I feel like, ‘Oh, I could hit that shot’? Yeah, okay: Maybe I could right now. But I feel like I squeezed the lemon out. I tried everything I had. And I’m so at peace,” said Federer, in that interview.
When he was asked whether he missed tennis, his reply was, “Not really, actually.” Federer actually disclosed that he now plays a lot of tennis with his family. “I love to go to play tennis when I play with my children. I just booked a court with my wife for the first time in my life,” said the 43-year-old superstar.

However, he has kept the door open for a Laver Cup comeback. We all know this season could possibly be the last season for Federer’s long-time rival Rafael Nadal. So, the condition is only if the Spaniard asks him to join him for yet another doubles match, he’d definitely listen to that call.
“I don’t think we’ll play doubles together at the Laver Cup, but if he asks me, I’ll definitely be there,” Federer said. So even amid Federer’s denial to return, fans can sense some positives. But unfortunately, Rafael Nadal has withdrawn his name from this year’s tournament. So the wait is still on!
