Swiss maestro Roger Federer has been enjoying his retirement but his iconic career moments have been haunting the players and fans alike. His presence cannot be replaced and his impact cannot be undone. Joining the list of players who have expressed their admiration for the legend since his retirement, is the 20-year-old Russian player, Maria Timofeeva.

Having grabbed the tennis world’s attention in her recent expeditions, she was featured on a podcast to reveal a few personal details about herself. Proving to be a growing crowd favorite herself, she reveals who her favorite player is.

Timofeeva was recently featured on Craig Shapiro‘s tennis podcast, called The Craig Shapiro Tennis Podcast. When asked about who she loved watching while growing up, she straight up said, “Roger Federer”.

When Shapiro probed a bit more asking about who she loves to watch now, she admittedly said, “Oh! That’s a tough one. I don’t really watch a lot of, let say women’s tennis I watch most of my friends but in the men’s tennis nothing really comes to mind who I love to watch but I’d say Daniil Medvedev. He’s entertaining, yeah.”

The Russian beauty’s reluctance to come up with a name from the current lot is a testament to Darth Fedrer’s imprint on young athletes who watched and learned from him throughout their formative years.

While, players, fans, and sports journalists lament over the legend’s retirement, it’ll be interesting to know what he has been up to since September 2022.

Roger Federer’s ‘dad’ duties keep him busy most of the time

Since retiring from tennis, FedEx has been spotted at various charity events and making his tennis presence felt now and then – Co-chairing the Met Gala Fundraiser, sitting in the front row at Dior’s couture show in Paris, and more recently he could be seen debuting a tennis collaboration between Uniqlo and the fashion label JW Anderson being one of the bigger ones.

Although none of these have Federer’s attention and time like his children do, twin daughters Myla and Charlene, 14, and twin sons Lenny and Leo, 9. In a post by the official SRF Sport page on Instagram, Federer could be seen saying, “No, I don’t get bored at all (after the end of my career). I’ve just traveled around the world. Now I’m finally back home again. That’s why I’m so happy to be here. This year has been great. Almost so great that I thought, “Why did I quit the night before?” (Translated from Google)

He further talks about his easy transition into his post-retirement life, “The transition into life was smooth for me. So it was easy for me, with 4 children anyway. That’s why it was a great year. Even with finally being back. Traveling to Corona. And I still do a lot of sports. It’s mega.”

Roger played his last match at the Lavers Cup in 2022 alongside his longest-standing rival and dear friend Rafael Nadal. In the post-match interview, he could be seen shedding tears for the game, the players, and the fans. It was a highly emotional moment and anybody who saw it wept.
