The US Open has officially entered its second week, and the excitement is only intensifying. With every match, the stakes are getting higher, and the chase for the coveted title is heating up. But it’s not just the players who are making waves on the courts; the stands are also filling up with some of the most iconic faces in tennis. Fans are cheering, cameras are flashing, and the atmosphere is electric as the tennis community rallies behind the stars of today. The latest legend to announce his grand entrance? None other than Roger Federer.
The Swiss Maestro engaged in an interview with Today’s journalist Savannah Guthrie and announced returning to the US Open. “Went to Wimbledon this year and I will go to the (US) Open actually tonight.” The 43-year-old was recently spotted at the All England Club where he donned sassy black shades and a format attire, as he watched some great players taking on each other from the stands. Now Federer will once again be seen at the final grand slam of the year, and he himself is equally excited about his return.
Continuing further in the interview, Federer said, “I haven’t been back at the Open since I retired, so it’s going to be also, I am sure, nice to be in Ashe, you know, watching tennis from the sidelines this time.” The tennis legend bade adieu to the sport in 2022 at the Laver Cup and he was not seen at the US Open last year. In fact, the last time he played at the venue was in 2019, when he advanced to the quarterfinals. But Federer is not the only tennis great who has made a first-ever visit to Flushing Meadows this year, since retirement.
